This trip was my first time visiting Mexico but it will definitely not be the last. The sheer adventure of exploring the Mexican lifestyle has become one of my favourites ever since I started traveling. Apart from adventure, we also spend quite some time relaxing in the beautiful place we picked out called; Tulum. Tulum has the best beach in all of Mexico and an unbelievable relaxing atmosphere! This special ambience is why I decided to dedicate a whole post to this astonishing place. I will share the hotels we stayed in, the things we did and the restaurants we tried. Already can’t wait to come back again!
Where to stay:
Azulik
The Azulik Hotel is an experience on its own. It is a treetop village located between the distinct rainforest and the white sandy beach. The whole concept of the hotel is to disconnect and to destress from the ever so hasty world we live in. My tip: book a room with sea view!
Villa Las Estrellas
This rustic, but elegant, hotel with just 9 rooms provides for a very calm and privacy focused timeout right at the beach. Our room had a wonderful view on the sea and its own set of stairs to the beach.
What to do:
Ruins of Tulum
On the one hand we have already seen so many mayan ruins on our trip that we were longing for a break at the beach, but on the other hand we heard so many good things about the Tulum Ruin that we decided to spend an afternoon exploring it. I have to say this Ruin is so special since it is located at the Sea with the most spectacular view. Tip: bring a bathing suit!
Cenotes
Visiting at least one cenote is a must for every trip to Mexico. There are plenty close to Tulum. The Grand Cenote has crystal clear blue water and is perfect for snorkling and exploring the underwater caves filled with little fish and turtles. The most popular Cenote close to Tulum is Dos Ojes a very mystical looking cave but with really cold water.
Where to eat:
Raw Love – enjoy the famous smoothie bowls!
Kitchen Table – amazing atmosphere! (my tip: devil avocado for a starter)
Zamas – order a very delicious guacamole on the beach.
Burrito Amor – best burritos in Mexico, located in the little city centre of Tulum.
