In Washington, once the Cold sets in, there is absolutely no better thing to do than soaking up the history by strolling through Georgetown. That cozy feeling you get when you walk along the beautiful streets, past the small colorful houses and through the heaps of brown/orange leafs. As charming as Georgetown always is, it is especially worth visiting in fall and winter. Conserved from the 18th century but updated with modern shops, Georgetown is a breath of fresh air coming down from Capitol Hill. M street offers a wide variety of shops, from small boutiques to luxury brands and, of course, Washington Cupcakes (if you don’t mind standing in line). As soon has you have had your fill, of not just the cupcake, head on to ‘the Mall’. Not a shopping Mall but the world’s largest collection of FREE museums. A quick visit to the Smithsonian allows time for a leisurely stroll down to the Lincoln Memorial. Even though my Timberland boots are quite comfortable, for heels, I should have worn flats. That is one of the great parts of winter and fall. You get to dress cozy and warm by snugging up in huge scarfs. Finish your outfit with a hat! The final touch that completes your style comes with the perks of keeping your head warm.
