Make Your Bedroom Eco-Friendly | Sustainable Home

As most of us are now staying at home, what better time to make your living space a bit more in touch with our planet. I will share a small series of sustainable living tips on how to make your home more eco friendly! In this first video, I am working together with Yumeko to focus on the bedroom. We will show you how you can transform your bedroom into an eco friendly sleeping space. (Make sure to read until the end for a big giveaway surprise)

We spend a lot of time in our bedroom, not necessarily conscious of our surroundings since we usually spend most of it sleeping, but a lot of hours non the less. This is why I think it is the most important room to start putting some effort into making it not only eco friendly but also human friendly and cosy. The best way to do that is by incorporating natural fabrics. Conventional textiles that have been treated with harmful chemicals are not only bad for the environment but also bad for your health.

Yumeko is an eco friendly home and living brand who’s mission it is to change the world sleeping. First of all; their name is amazing, it roughly translates to dream child and it is no wonder that their main focus lies on the bedroom. Their products are all made out of natural materials and they are super transparent when it comes to their supply chain. They have environmentally conscious shipping (via Good Shipping), they do their best to use the most sustainable materials and they make sure that everyone involved is treated fair. Each year they come out with an impact report where you can find out all about their efforts.

For my bedroom I only use natural materials and I am thrilled I got to try out Yumeko’s 100% Tencel blanket. The blanket is filled with lyocell, which is made from wood pulp from sustainably managed forests. It is breathable and at the same time keeping you warm. It is a bit heavier than a usual blanket, which makes it feel really snuggly. You already know how much I love Tencel from my previous shares, but I am excited to introduce you to one of my new favourite materials: Kapok. Kapok is made out of the fruits of the kapok tree. If you still sleep on Polyester pillows, there is something you should know; Polyester is made from petroleum, which is harmful for people and the environment. The kapok pillows of Yumeko are natural and vegan. They are incredibly soft (what I would imagine sleeping on a cloud must feel like) but still firm enough to offer great support for your neck. They truly are a dream to sleep on and prove that a positive change in the sleep sector is possible by choosing plant-based natural materials.

To set you off on your perfect, sustainable nights Yumeko also offers 100% organic linen covers (available in lots of great colors) made out of french flax plants and woven and washed in Portugal. Linen is great for the environment since it requires much less water to produce than cotton for example and great for your bedroom since it is breathable and soft but still sturdy. Yumeko’s washed linen covers feel and look amazing and are great for the upcoming warm summer nights.

All in all, Yumeko offers everything you need for an eco-friendly bedroom. Their products are all high quality, made to last and, as you can see in my youtube video, gorgeous. The only downside is that it makes it that much harder to get out of bed in the morning.

Yumeko’s products are almost too good to be true and that is why we are offering you a chance to win one of their 100% Washed Linen cover sets, so you can find out just how great they are for yourself. For more information on how to win your free set, visit my instagram channel!
